Remember that crazy, kooky married couple (self described) that has been helping around camp for the last eighteen months? You know the ones: the tall skinny guy who looks like he’s just returned from active military duty, and the short, spunky young lady who loves cooking?

Well, have we got news for you! You’ll be seeing a lot more of these intrepid servants. Tim and Rae Dehnart have signed on for another year of serving here at Living Waters.

Read on for an exclusive, never-seen-before interview!

Did you grow up going to camp?
Tim: I never went to camp as a kid, but I had many great experiences camping outdoors with family.
Rae: I went to LWBC a couple of times growing up; mostly during my high school years.

Did you ever picture yourselves working long-term at a camp?
No! In fact, we thought it was just a 9-week thing, waaaay back in May of 2014!  God had better plans for us though. Camp turned out to be more of a blessing than we ever could have imagined.

What do you do at camp?
Tim: I have a huge variety of projects I get to work on. Anything from assembling new structures to running a program for kids on the Wonders of Water! One week I was building a fence, the next I was studying information about fish!
Rae: I’m mostly in the kitchen, making food and baking cookies for the hungry campers! Occasionally I get to lend a hand with the outdoor projects or caring for the animals here at camp. My favorite jobs are when I get to collaborate with Tim.

You two have been doing mostly volunteer work for eighteen months, and have signed on for another twelve. What are you, crazy?
Rae: Yes! We are crazy! Or, at least a little bit. Fortunately for us, God doesn’t require complete sanity from His servants, and neither does camp. What’s required is a willingness to serve, and a heart for all the people we can reach through ministry here. And we qualify! Phew!
Tim: Selfless serving takes a lot out of you. In fact, it is impossible to do it without the Holy Spirit filling us up each day. But the reward is more than worth it. We love working at camp and have built great relationships with the staff here. For us there is nothing better than being on the frontlines of ministry; working with people face-to-face and getting to see God work in their lives first hand.

You’ve been at camp for a year and a half now. What is the biggest thing God has blessed your heart with telling/teaching you?
Rae: Humility. Working in the kitchen is thankless work a lot of times, and God had worked on my heart in the last year regarding the desire to be acknowledged. I’ve grown and matured immensely in my time here and I look forward to learning even more in the months to come!
Tim: God has been asking me for a while to step out of my comfort zone, and into more speaking type rolls. In addition to that, both my wife and I believe God is preparing and leading us into a long term ministry that will likely be very similar to what we are doing here at LWBC.

Anything else?   We’re having a baby! Our very first little peanut will arrive in January of 2016. We are all very excited, and just can’t wait to meet our wonderful blessing from God.

We are excited to have Tim and Rae at camp for another year.  Tim's focus will be on completing projects on our Strategic Plan List (projects determined by the board to be critical to the success of the ministry).   If you would like to support the Dehnart's during their year at camp please click here.
