As the director of Mother-Daughter weekend, I was encouraged to see over 100 women and girls take time away from their busy lives to invest in their connections with one another as well as their knowledge and understanding of the Lord! The mothers and daughters, during our wintery weather weekend, participated in many of camp's best activities: cross country skiing, tubing, and ice skating. We offered many different options for our Mother-Daughter couples who might choose to do as much activity or relax as they desired.
Friday night, we welcomed ladies with dozens and dozens of pies which our guests brought for a "Pie Social." We also provided a special "Heart Treasure Hike" for couples to enjoy a snowy prayer walk.
Our main speaker, Sharif Welch, shared about investing time in God's Word, the Bible, and the need for us to rely on that truth during our own lives as well as when we train our daughters in God's righteousness.
On Saturday morning, small group workshops were a mix of moms and daughters on the topics: Biblical hospitality, teaching girls how to study the Bible, Bible journaling, and creation exploration. This year we offered many smaller crafts in the wood-heated Rec Room as part of our CrAfternoon. We capped off a fun-filled Saturday with a delicious Hawaiian Luau meal, Bingo games with prizes, and Snow-Cones!
I love to look across the dining hall and see the moms enjoying a relaxing time of fellowship over a meal. We provided an "interview" for Mothers and Daughters to interview one another during the Luau meal and that brought my own table many laughs and good memories.
One of my own favorite moments of the weekend came on Saturday afternoon when my own mother, along with several other grandmas, got to teach about 45 moms and girls how to crochet! I hope those who started a hat might be able to complete it yet this winter and pass it on to someone in need!
As always, I thank those who came and shared their time with us over Mother-Daughter Weekend. I pray it was a jump start to a better, more active and personal relationship between you and your daughter and your efforts in your walk with the Lord. We couldn't have the weekend without you all!
